Carla Mackinnon studied Fine Art at undergraduate level, then completed an MA in Animation at the Royal College of Art in London. She then conducted research for her PhD at the Arts University Bournemouth, completing the thesis in 2022. Carla is currently a tutor on the MA Animation provision at the RCA, and is an experienced producer, director, and festival organiser. She has presented her research at numerous conferences and festivals worldwide. She contributed a chapter, “Autobiography and Authenticity in Stop-motion Animation” to the anthology The Crafty Animator: Handmade, Craft-Based Animation and Cultural Value edited by Caroline Ruddell and Paul Ward (Palgrave Macmillan, 2019).
