Joe Sheehan studied Fine Art at undergraduate level at the Hull School of Art and Design, before undertaking an MA in Animation at the Arts University Bournemouth. He then progressed to do his PhD at AUB, completing his practice-based thesis in 2016. He now teaches at HSAD as well as working on his own artworks. Joe’s work has been exhibited across the U.K. and Europe and has been included in publications such as: Motion[less] Pictures: The Cinema of Stasis by Justin Remes (Columbia University Press, 2015); The Crafty Animator: Handmade, Craft-Based Animation and Cultural Value edited by Caroline Ruddell and Paul Ward (Palgrave Macmillan, 2019); Sketching for Animation: Developing Ideas, Characters and Layouts in your Sketchbook by Peter Parr (Bloomsbury, 2018); and a special documentary animation-themed issue of animation: an interdisciplinary journal, entitled Making it (Un)Real: Contemporary Theories and Practices in Documentary Animation edited by Jeffrey Skoller (Sage, 2011).
