Paul Hilton

Paul Hilton was a Senior Lecturer at Arts University Bournemouth for almost two decades, teaching on both the BA (Hons) and MA Animation Production degrees. In 2016 he set up the BA (Hons) Visual Effects degree and ran it as Course Leader for its first 3 years. Paul’s background is in traditional 2D hand-drawn animation, though he has skills and interests in CG animation.

Alongside his academic career, Paul has worked as a freelancer since 2000 in a variety of media on a range of projects. More recently Paul has worked with the NHS on a project promoting different treatments for prostate conditions; this is a research area in collaboration with Sarah Goy (a graduate of the AUB MA Animation Production course and member of the Animation and Moving Image Research Group). This project has to date produced an initial 3D visualisation showing one of the procedures, with plans for further practical outcomes.

Currently, Paul is working as Environment Lead Artist on a feature film. This project is being produced in the Unreal Engine following a real-time production process. Paul is employed at Treehouse Digital a Dorset based production studio and has plans for some exciting Research and Knowledge Exchange collaborations between Treehouse and AUB.
