Rob Amey is a photographer and filmmaker based in the South West of England. After graduating with a first class BA Photography degree from London College of Communication and completing his Masters in Photography at University of West England, Rob has been working at AUB since 2017. In 2020, Rob became the Pathway Leader for Film and Animation on the Foundation Diploma and in 2021 become Progression Leader for Media, teaching and working across Foundation and BA degrees at AUB.
Alongside his teaching, Rob is currently a post-graduate research student for the University of Glasgow exploring innovative technology, performance, spirituality and community through the school of Film and Television.
His previous work explores the interwoven relationship of spirituality and the landscape in the South West of England with his most recent body of work, 'Anima’ being based in rural Dorset as he explores the ancient landscape and places of historic value to the local towns, villages, and pagan groups.
The images and moving image pieces set out to explore primal fears, spirituality, and modern ancestor worship across the ancient woodlands of England. The series follows real people, the turning of the wheel, ritual celebrations and worship that happens throughout the seasons. This project is a chapter in a larger body of work titled Land, Myth and Time' exploring our connection to the land and the ancient landscapes across the UK.
